Family Physician :
Family physicians or family doctors are an essential part of the healthcare workforce. These are the doctors who serve as the first point of contact for any individual who is suffering from an illness. Family physicians are essentially general physicians, meaning that they hold an MBBS degree and an MD in General Medicine or an equivalent qualification.
These doctors have the expertise to diagnose and treat various acute and chronic problems. Family physicians are best known for resolving problems like cough, cold, food poisoning, diarrhea, constipation, fever and various infections. They can also treat problems like high blood pressure, diabetes, and allergies. Patients can also rely on family physicians to perform regular health check-ups, vaccinations and nutritional counselling. If these doctors suspect that a patient has a serious health problem, then they may refer the patient to an appropriate specialist.
