Shingles, a viral infection, is caused by varicella zoster virus. It is characterized by rash or blisters that appear on a particular area of the body. Some of the initial symptoms of shingles are fever with chills, headache, upset stomach, fatigue, and sensitivity to light. At a later stage, shingles results in itching, burning, or tingling feeling on the skin. Also, there is appearance of fluid-filled blisters which burst open to form scabs.
