Epididymitis :
The epididymis is a small, coiled tube that is connected to the back of the testicles. This tube is responsible for storing and carrying sperm. When this tube swells up and causes pain or irritation in the groin, it is called epididymitis. The condition can occur at any age and cause symptoms like swollen testicles, pain when urinating, blood in the semen, chills and fever. Epididymitis can develop due to sexually transmitted infections, viral infections, blockages in the urethra and injuries. Epididymitis is diagnosed with blood tests, urine tests, and bacteria swab tests. Once the root cause of the condition is identified, the doctor may prescribe antibiotics or anti-tuberculosis medicine. Sometimes, the condition causes a lump to develop on the scrotum. In these cases, the lump must be drained and the scrotum repaired surgically. The surgeon may also remove the swollen epididymis from the body.
