A dermatologist is a specialized medical doctor who can diagnose and treat various conditions of skin, hair, and nails. To become a dermatologist, one has to complete five and half years of graduation, attain an MBBS degree from a medical college, and pursue post-graduation in dermatology. The common conditions treated by dermatologists are acne, eczema, hair loss, nail fungus, psoriasis, skin cancer, and rosacea. The symptoms that dermatologists generally manage are rash, a patch of skin that has changed in size, color or shape, hives, scars, dark spots on face, warts, infections, hair loss, nail disorders, signs of aging, long lasting skin irritation, varicose and spider veins. The common treatments performed by a dermatologist are advising medications and creams, electrosurgery, cryosurgery, laser surgery, excision surgery, Mohs surgery, mole removal, and vein treatments.
