Squint surgeon :

An MBBS course is essential in India to become a squint surgeon. Squint surgeon specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of squint or strabismus which is a condition of eye misalignment. They then may obtain additional specialized training in a fellowship in strabismus or pediatric ophthalmology for one to two years.

There are four varieties of strabismus. These include esotropia or inward squint, exotropia or outward squint, hypertropia or upward squint, and hypotropia or downward squint that are treated by the squint surgeons. Treatments conducted for the conditions include non-surgical vision therapy or correction with glasses but they generally operate on patients to correct the muscle imbalance that creates the misalignment.
