A physiotherapist is a doctor who has the training to help patients restore and improve their ability to move their bodies. Physiotherapists can treat conditions that cause pain, stiffness or discomfort when moving the body. These specialists can treat problems such as back pain, trigger finger and carpal tunnel syndrome. They can also treat traumatic conditions such as knee ligament injuries, spinal cord injury, rotator cuff tears and TMJ disorders. Furthermore, physiotherapists help patients recovery from injuries such as concussions and sports-related injuries.
The qualifications of a physiotherapist are a Bachelor's in Physiotherapy and a Master's in Physiotherapy. These specialists treat their patients by assisting them in performing therapeutic exercises. They may also perform soft-tissue manipulation, use hot and cold packs and provide electrical stimulation to provide relief to their patients.
