Uveitis :

Uveitis is a medical condition in which there is inflammation of the uvea, (the middle layer of the eye) which includes the iris, choroid, and ciliary body. The causes include infections (herpes, leptopirosis, syphilis etc.), autoimmune disorders, eye injuries, and certain medications. Signs and symptoms of uveitis may include eye pain and redness, blurred vision, sensitivity to light, photophobia, irregular pupil, floaters, eye inflammation, eye pain etc. The various risk factors include history of autoimmune disorders ( sympathetic ophthalmia, behchet's disease, crohns disease etc.,) , recent eye injury or surgery, certain medical conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, kawasaki disease, ankylosing spondylitis etc,.

Complications may include vision loss, glaucoma, cataracts , retinal detachment if not diagnosed and treated early. Diagnosis involves a comprehensive eye exam, imaging tests, and laboratory tests to rule out underlying conditions. Management typically ivolves finding out the underlying cause and treating it which may include anti-inflammatory medications ( gluco corticoids), antibiotics or antiviral medications for underlying infections, immunosuppressive medications for autoimmune disorders and surgery in severe cases.
