Undescended testis :
Before a boy is born, the testicles move from the abdomen into their proper place in the scrotum, which is a bag of skin that hangs below the penis. But if the testis does not move into the scrotum before birth, it is said that the baby has an undescended testis. Undescended testis are more common in prematurely-born babies. The condition usually affects a single testicle, but it can happen to both testicles. The undescended testis usually descends by themselves a few months after birth. However, if this condition does not correct itself, then the testis can be moved into the scrotum surgically. Surgical correction of undescended testis is usually performed when the baby is between six and 18 months old. If the condition is left untreated or is treated later than it should, then the risk of health problems like infertility and testicular cancer increases.
