SLE :
Systemic lupus erythematosus, also known as lupus, is a disease that's systemic and affects a wide variety of organs. It notably often causes red lesions on the skin. Generally, the immune system protects the body's tissue from invaders, but lupus is an autoimmune disease where immune cells start attacking the very same tissues they are supposed to protect. Any organ or tissue can be affected by this disease. The main reason for developing this disease is unknown genetics, which are considered to be one of the factors causing it. Symptoms include fever, rashes over the body, fever, generalized weakness, and unexplained weight loss. The classic symptoms of SLE include a butterfly rash on the cheeks of the patient when they are exposed to sunlight. Treatment includes lifestyle modification like getting less exposed to sunlight, staying hydrated, usage of medicines like corticosteroids, blood thinners, and immunosuppressive medications. A general physician or a hematologist should be consulted if a patient experiences any symptoms of SLE.
