Ruptured eardrum :
Ruptured eardrum is an ear condition in which the eardrum becomes torn and affecting the hearing and sense of balance in an individual. The long term problems associated with a ruptured ear drum include hearing loss, long term vertigo, long term dizziness, infection that can spread in the ear and persistent ear drum perforation. The significant signs of a ruptured eardrum include sudden hearing loss, buzzing noise in the ear coming from outside of ears, sudden sharp pain in the ear and drainage from the ear that looks like blood or pus. The causes of ruptured eardrum include usage of cotton swabs or other small pointed objects to scratch or clean the ears, trauma to the ear due to sudden explosive sounds and barotrauma if the eustachian tube is irritated. ENT doctors evaluate this condition and treat a ruptured eardrum, based on the severity by performing procedures like myringoplasty and tympanoplasty.
