High Risk pregnancy :
The possible adverse events that might occur to the mother or the baby during pregnancy are known as high-risk pregnancies. Women after the age of 35 are more prone to high risk pregnancies. Women with underlying medical conditions such as uncontrolled blood sugar, elevated blood pressure, obesity, and thyroid disorders are more prone to have high risk pregnancy. Symptoms of high risk pregnancy include abdominal pain, chest discomfort, nausea, headache, and shortness of breath. Complications of high risk pregnancy include stillbirth, premature delivery, or childbirth, whose weight would be significantly low. Diagnosis is done by basic blood investigations, ultrasound, and urine analysis. Treatment would focus on the underlying cause due to which a patient might develop high risk pregnancy. Lifestyle changes like control of blood pressure, blood sugars, ensuring proper diet and avoiding smoking and alcohol would be advised.
