Eye Surgery :
Eye surgery, also known as ocular surgery, refers to a surgical procedure that aims at the removal or repair of the eye and its surrounding structures. Eye surgery is recommended to manage conditions such as cataracts, ptosis, eye cancer, retinal detachment, glaucoma, refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. There are various types of eye surgeries such as vision correcting surgeries like LASIK surgery and photo refractive keratectomy, cataract surgery, corneal transplants, vitrectomies, surgery to repair open globe injury, surgery to remove the eye, strabismus surgery, glaucoma management surgery and plastic surgeries for face and structures around the eyes (eyelid surgery). The side effects of an eye surgery include dry eyes, seeing glare or halos, decreased vision, bleeding, infection and blurred vision. After surgery, if the patient experiences signs like excessive bleeding, pain more than expected, swollen skin, fever, inability to see clearly or at all and pus around the wound, it is important to consult a doctor.
