Ear infection :
Ear infection refers to inflammation of the middle ear, usually caused by bacteria or viruses. It is also known as otitis media. The symptoms of ear infection are ear pain, loss of appetite, trouble sleeping, trouble hearing in the blocked ear, a feeling of pressure in the ear, and yellow, brown, or white drainage from the ear. Infants with ear infections usually rub or tug on their ears, cry more than usual, act fussy, have a high fever, refuse to eat while feeding, have increased snoring and also start mouth breathing. Ear infections usually begin after a cold or any other upper respiratory tract infection, and these germs travel into the middle ear. Ear infections can complicate to temporary hearing loss, delayed speech and language development in children, torn eardrum and spread of infection to the bone behind the ear, causing mastoiditis.
