Dry Eyes :
Dry eyes are an eye disease that is seen to affect the layers of tears covering the cornea. It is caused when there are not enough tears for the eyes to stay wet. The several types of dry eyes are aqueous deficient dry eye, evaporative dry eye, and mixed dry eye. Dry eye is a symptom of diseases like Sjogren's syndrome, diabetes, thyroid eye disease, and blepharitis. The symptoms of dry eyes are burning or stringing, feeling sensitive to light, blurred or changed vision, mucus coming out of the eye and watery eyes, and excess tears running down the cheeks. The condition of dry eyes is managed by avoiding environmental triggers that flare up the symptoms, using a humidifier in the bedroom, placing a warm compress over the eye, giving eyes rest, using medicated eye drops, punctual occlusion, thermal pulsation therapy, intense pulsed light therapy and by wearing therapeutic contact lenses like soft bandage lenses and rigid scleral lenses.
