Color Blindness :

Color Blindness is an X linked inherited condition of the vision where there is decreased ability to perceive different colours. It can range from mild to severe form where there is problem with cells called cones that are responsible for colour perception. Rarely the condition can be acquired due to injury or damage to the retina or optic nerve. People with colour blindness has trouble in seeing colours like red, blue, green, etc. There are mainly three types in colour blindness Protanopia, Deuteranopia and Tritanopia depending on what colour is difficult for the person to perceive.

Diagnosis can be done by Ishihara colour test where a Pseudoisochromatic plates are present and the person is asked to identify the number that is made of slightly different colour, it also helps in knowing the severity of the colour blindness. Other tests include Farnsworth Lantern Test, Arrangement tests and instruments such as anomaloscope. Management therapy include gene therapy for colour blindness.
