Hepatitis :
Hepatitis as the name suggests is inflammation of the liver tissue . It can occur due to various factors like viruses, poisoning due to chemicals, Alcohol consumption, autoimmune cases. The common symptoms of yellowish discoloration of skin, eyes(Jaundice), dark coloured urine,abdominal discomfort, nausea (vomiting sensation), easy fatigability , etc ., In many cases the patients might not have any specific symptoms .major cause of hepatitis is due to viral infections causing Hepatitis A,B,C,D,E. Hep A & Hep E are usually transmitted through contaminated water and food . hep E is usually more severe in pregnant women.
Hep B & Hep C are usually spread through blood to blood contact like sharing of needles, through semen and other bodily fluids. Hep D only effects those that are already affected by Hep B virus.It is transmitted in the similar way as hep B .It can worsen the symptoms of Hep B and increase the risk of Chronic liver disease , cirrhosis and increased risk of developing liver cancer. Viral hepatitis can be prevented through vaccination (Hep A & Hep B) , practicing of safe sex and avoiding sharing of needles and syringes
