Sports physiotherapist :
A sports physiotherapist is a medical practitioner who provides physiotherapy services to patients who are actively involved in sports. To practice as a sports physiotherapist, it is mandatory to obtain a bachelor's degree in physiotherapy and then pursue a Master's in Sports Physiotherapy. A sports physiotherapist primarily delivers treatments such as injury prevention, restoring function, and prompt rehabilitation to reduce the pain of the player and also prevent ligament/muscle injury. The common injuries that are handled by a sports physiotherapist include ankle sprain, golfer's elbow, frozen shoulder, elbow pain, ligament tear, knee pain while running and tennis elbow. Sports physiotherapists apply various treatment methods such as electrotherapy, hydrotherapy and warm/ cold compression. These techniques work by improving the strength and range of motion, regaining flexibility, and helping athletes return to their sport. Sports physiotherapists also recommend athletes take rest periods, proper training loads, and nutrition.
