Skin Cancer :
The cancer that affects the skin and causes abnormal growth of cells is called skin cancer. There are different types of skin cancers, such as squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, and melanoma, and other types are Merkel cell carcinoma, Kaposi sarcoma, dermatofibrosarcoma, and sebaceous gland carcinoma. The symptoms of skin cancer are the appearance of a mole or bump, sore skin, rough patches on skin, itching skin, pain around bump areas. The causes of skin cancer can be due to excess exposure to sunlight and damage to the DNA in the skin, leading to abnormal growth of the cells. The diagnosis of skin cancer can be done through examination of skin area, biopsy of skin, and imaging tests such as CT scan and MRI scan, and after diagnosis, staging of cancer is done. The treatment options for skin cancer can be medicated skin creams, photodynamic therapy, curettage and electrodesiccation, Mohs surgery, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, etc.
