Laryngitis :
Laryngitis is the medical term for the condition with inflammation of the larynx or voice box. The condition is noticed when the vocal cords are excessively used, affected by bacterial/viral infection, or irritated by ingestion of any foreign body. It can be caused by the intake of daily tobacco and alcohol in enormous proportions. Laryngitis can manifest as either an acute or chronic condition. It is characterized by hoarseness, voice strain, pain and tickling of throat, dry cough and throat. It is examined and evaluated by an ENT doctor by performing throat culture, laryngoscopy, and biopsy as needed. Laryngitis can be treated with medications like antibiotics, antifungals, corticosteroids, and NSAIDs/pain relievers. Following a well-balanced diet, resting the vocal cords, limiting alcohol or tobacco intake. Report to doctor immediately if you notice any blood, drainage or increased pain from the vocal cords.
