Neuroma :
A neuroma can be referred to as a non-cancerous growth that develops in the nerve tissue. There are many types of neuroma, like Morton's neuroma, traumatic neuroma, and acoustic neuroma. The neuroma can occur due to injuries to nerves, foot conditions such as flat foot, stress or pressure on nerves, rheumatoid arthritis, or gout. The symptoms which can be seen in neuroma can be tingling sensation, pain, burning sensation, numbness, swelling or lump, stabbing, dull, sharp pain, and symptoms can be triggered with tight shoes, and any activity. The diagnosis of neuroma can be done with physical examination, X-ray, ultrasound scan, and electromyography. The management for neuroma can be with medication to relieve pain, rest, ice application, shoe pads, physiotherapy, steroid injections, and orthotic devices. Surgical treatment can be indicated in case of failure of the above conservative treatments, which involves the removal of the neuroma or the decompression of nerves.
