Diabetes is a condition in which blood sugar levels are higher than normal levels. It can be managed with medications and consuming a healthy diet. A diabetic diet mainly focuses on maintaining blood sugar levels with balanced and healthy diet, physical exercise, and medication. A diabetic diet includes vegetables that are non-starchy, whole grains, lean protein such as poultry, eggs, fish, healthy fats, fiber-rich foods, fruits, etc. Also, there are some diet restrictions, such as cholesterol-rich foods, processed foods, sugary foods and drinks, salt, and alcohol. A dietitian or nutritionist can create diet plan that includes all these, thus making a proper diabetic diet plan for people with diabetes. There is a diet plan to maintain a diabetic diet, which includes half of the plate with vegetables, a quarter of the plate with lean protein, and the last quarter of the plate with carbohydrates.
