Gallbladder cancer is referred to the abnormal growth of cancer cells in the gall bladder. It is a rare condition characterized by symptoms such as abdominal pain, fever, bloating, jaundice, dis-coloured urine, weight loss and lumpy abdomen. The exact cause of gallbladder cancer is not known, while risk factors include porcelain gallbladder, gallbladder polyps, bile duct problems, chronic typhoid, family history and certain ethnic groups. This type of cancer is more prevalent in women and in the age group above 60. Surgery is the ultimate care for gallbladder cancer, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and palliative care are used in the treatment of gallbladder cancer.
