Family Physician :
A family physician is described as a family doctor who delivers holistic health care benefits to people of all age groups. To qualify as a family physician, one has to complete graduation in MBBS from a reputed medical college, followed by pursuing post graduate degree in MD, General Medicine. The common conditions diagnosed and managed by a family physician include chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, arthritis, diabetes, acute infections like flu, common cold, ear infections, sinus infections, several mental health conditions, allergies and their effects. Family physicians also provide diet counselling and recommend healthy lifestyle modifications, conduct regular health checkups and screen for various diseases. They are also responsible for vaccinations and refer patients to other specialized doctors whenever necessary. A family physician offers other services such as emergency treatments for minor injuries and other conditions. The common conditions addressed by a family physician include symptoms such as chronic pain, fever, fatigue, changes in skin appearance, diarrhea, abdominal pain, etc.
