Tubectomy
Tubectomy is a surgical procedure that is done as a permanent form of birth control in women. In a tubectomy procedure, the fallopian tubes that carry the ovum from the ovaries into the uterus are cut and the ends are tied up, thereby preventing the egg from travelling into the uterus. Tubectomy is generally performed as a minimally invasive procedure under general or regional anesthesia, and it can take 30-45 minutes for the procedure to be completed. Resumption of normal activities is advised a week after the procedure.
