SBRT :
SBRT or Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy refers to a type of cancer treatment used to manage oligometastatic cancers and primary cancers. SBRT uses a non-invasive technique of radiation therapy, and is delivered to manage small tumors with large doses of radiation. With SBRT, there is less damage to the nearby healthy tissue. SBRT is indicated to primarily treat cancers like liver cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, and pancreatic cancer. The time required to complete these techniques is around fifteen minutes to more than an hour. The side effects that may arise after giving SBRT to treat lung cancer include mild cough, tiredness, and phlegm complaints. SBRT for prostate cancer may induce side effects such as bowel changes, pain while passing stool, and an increase in the frequency of urination. Nausea and diarrhea are commonly seen in patients who undergo SBRT for liver and pancreatic cancer. SBRT is an alternative treatment to surgery for a few who undergo SBRT for liver and pancreatic cancer.
