Salivary Gland Tumour :
The mouth and throat have a number of small organs that produce saliva. These organs are known as salivary glands. When a cancerous growth develops on any of these glands, it is said that the individual has a salivary gland tumour. The tumour makes a lump appear on the mouth or throat. It may also cause symptoms like pain, weakness or numbness in the face. The individual may also experience bleeding or find it difficult to swallow.
A doctor can determine the location, size and type of salivary gland tumour with tests like PET scan, CT scan, MRI and biopsy. These tumours are usually treated by surgically removing them from the body.
