High Arch Foot :
A high arch foot is called a pes cavus or cavus foot. High arch foot can be referred to as a disease condition when the foot arches are formed abnormally high, creating a gap between the foot and the ground while walking or standing. The high arch foot can be caused by heredity, and there are other causes, which include nerve damage, muscular dystrophy, and cerebral palsy. Symptoms of a high arch foot include foot pain, ankle instability, heel calluses, and toe deformities. The diagnosis of a high-arch foot will be done with an MRI scan and a foot X-ray. When it is suspected of being a neuromuscular disorder, an EMG test or nerve conduction study should be advised. The treatment advised for a high arch foot will depend on the severity of the condition, which includes the use of special shoe inserts called orthotics, the use of splints or braces to help stretch the feet, physiotherapy, and pain relievers to control pain.
