Eye Test
An eye test or an eye examination is a medical test that is done by ophthalmologists to assess and evaluate the cause of a problem affecting the eye or vision, or routinely to catch any eye or systemic medical problem in an early stage. An eye test involves checking various aspects of the eye including the ability of a person to focus on near and distant objects, sensitivity of the pupils to light, the side vision, eye movements, pressure within the eyes, a slit lamp examination to examine the front portion of the eyes, and dilation of the pupils and using specialized equipment to visualize the back portion of the eye including the retina and the optic nerve. Advanced eye tests can include taking photographs of the back of the eye, angiography to check the blood supply to the retina and the eyes, and measurements of the various structures of the eye such as the cornea or the lens.
