Deviated Nasal Septum :
The nasal septum is nothing but the bone and cartilage the divides the nose into two nostrils. In other words, the septum is the wall of bone and tissue present between the nostrils. Some individuals have a septum that is slightly bent towards one side. Such a bent septum is called a deviated nasal septum. The condition may be present since birth but it does not always cause symptoms. Some individuals with a deviated septum experience symptoms like facial pain, snoring, headache and difficulty in breathing.
The diagnosis of a deviated nasal septum involves the use of a nasal speculum. The symptoms of this condition can be managed with medications such as nasal sprays and anti-histamines.
