Bow Legs :
Bow legs can be referred to as genu varum. Bow legs can be called a condition in which the legs are curved outwards at the knee position, leading to a wide space between both legs. Bow legs will be commonly observed in toddlers and infants. Generally, this bowleggedness is a physiologic process, and legs will become normal by 2 years of age. If they are straightened, the causes could be rickets, Blount's disease, dwarfism, bone fractures, fluoride poisoning, or lead poisoning. The diagnosis of bow legs can be based on the physical examination and X-rays to examine the bones. The blood tests should be done to detect the underlying disease. There is no requirement for treatment below the age of 2 years. If the bow legs are still there even after the age of 2 years, treatment will be done with splints, braces, specialized shoes, casts, treatment of the underlying disease, and surgical treatment can be done in order to correct the position of bones.
