ASD Surgery :
ASD can be called an atrial septal defect. ASD surgery is a treatment procedure that is used to correct the atrial septal defect. ASD is a heart defect in which the opening between the upper two chambers of the heart will not be closed, and ASD surgery will be used to close that opening. When the opening is small, there will be no treatment required, but when the opening becomes larger, it can lead to the flow of blood into the wrong chambers of the heart, thus causing symptoms that include enlargement of the heart, heart failure, abnormal heart rhythms, high pressure in the lungs, shortness of breath, and stroke. During the procedure of ASD surgery, the opening will be covered with a patch of synthetic material or the patient's own body tissue, then it is plugged with a closure device, and then suturing is done. The benefits of ASD surgery will be the reduction of complications and the protection of the heart and lungs. The complications that are seen with the ASD surgery will be allergies, kidney failure, bleeding, stroke, and damage to heart tissues.
