Appendicitis in Children :
Appendicitis in children is called the inflammation or infection of the appendix. The appendix is a tube-shaped, small organ attached to the large intestine. Appendicitis will occur due to infection of the digestive tract, growth of parasites in the appendix, infection in the abdomen, or inflammatory bowel disease. The symptoms observed in appendicitis include severe abdominal pain in the lower right region, fever, nausea and vomiting, loss of hunger, and pain while moving. The diagnosis of appendicitis in children will be based on the diagnostic tests, such as physical examination, abdominal ultrasound, CT scan, blood tests to detect infection, and X-rays. The treatment advised for appendicitis will depend on the severity of the condition. In mild cases, it will be treated with antibiotics. In case of severe appendicitis, surgical removal of the appendix can be advised. Surgical treatment will be done through laparotomy, also known as open surgery, and laparoscopic surgery. If appendicitis is left without treatment, it can cause a very serious infection called peritonitis and also cause rupture of the appendix , which can be a life-threatening condition.
