What causes Sciatica?
Sciatica causes shooting pain from the sides of the lower back down the leg. It is often associated with loss of sensation of the buttocks or tingling. The bundle of sciatic nerves are pinched between the vertebrae and cause pain. Sciatica can be the result of an injury or trauma to the lower back. Aging related wear and tear of the muscles can also cause the vertebrae to rupture against the nerve bundles. Obesity is often associated with lower back pain as the excess weight of the upper body directly lands on the lower back region. If your occupation is associated with bending and lifting heavy objects multiple times through out the day, it is best to improve core strength and employ proper technique for this as it may lead to undue pressure on the nerves. Lack of sufficient mobility can cause sciatica. In some cases, this condition can occur even when any of the described conditions are not present.
