Pancreatic Cancer :
Pancreatic cancer is a malignant disease and is rather an aggressive cancer, which originates in the tissues of pancreas, the organ which is located behind the stomach and plays a significant role in digestion and blood sugar regulation. The reason why pancreatic cancer develops is not known but factors include smoking, hereditary, diabetes or obesity. This type of cancer is often diagnosed in the late stage since symptoms like jaundice, emaciation, abdominal pain and dysfunction of the body's digestive system may only manifest when the cancer is already widespread.This means that the treatment of pancreatic cancer depends with stages of the disease and overall health of the patient. If all this is accomplished in good time the tumor can be removed surgically through the whipples operation. The other therapies include Chemotherapy which involves the use of chemicals to control or slow the growth of the tumor or to stop it all together, Radiation therapy which involves using radiation to curtail the tumor or to halt its growth and targeted therapy to only act on the tumor cells. Therefore, the prognosis of pancreatic cancer is comparatively low and a timely diagnosis integrated with new treatments can increase the number of patient alive.
