Psychiatrist :
A psychiatrist is a specialized doctor who diagnoses and treats the mental, emotional, and behavioral conditions affecting people. To certify a psychiatrist, it is mandatory to complete five and half years of graduation and qualify MBBS, followed by pursuing post graduation (MD) in Psychiatry. A psychiatrist addresses a wide range of complains such as alzheimer's disease, alcohol use disorder, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorder, attention- deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)bipolar disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, depression, dissociate disorders, eating, mood disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, gambling and hoarding disorders, personality disorder, schizophrenia, sleep disorders and post partum depression. The treatment methods applied by a psychiatrist to treat the above conditions include prescribing medications, psychotherapy or talk therapy, and other treatments such as trans cranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and electric convulsive treatment (ECT). Psychotherapy comprises cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness based cognitive therapy, interpersonal therapy and problem solving therapy.
