Osteoporosis :
Osteoporosis is a disease in which the bones in the body become less dense and thinner. It makes the affected individual more likely to experience bone fractures. Osteoporosis is usually most apparent in the spine, wrists and hips. However, the condition usually does not cause any symptoms. A doctor may suspect osteoporosis when a patient breaks their bone unexpectedly. Other signs that can indicate osteoporosis include changes in the natural posture, lower back pain, loss of an inch in height, and shortness of breath.
Osteoporosis naturally occurs when as the body ages. However, it can also occur due to hormone problems, blood disorders and gastrointestinal diseases. The condition can also develop as a reaction to certain medications. The diagnosis of this condition involves X-ray scans and bone density tests. Osteoporosis is treated with a combination of medications, vitamin and mineral supplements and exercise.
