Uro Gynaecologist :
One has to pursue his bachelor's degree in medicine, followed by a master's degree in obstetrics and gynecology, followed by a fellowship program or a diploma program in urogynecology to become a urogynecologist. A urogynecologist treats conditions related to pelvic floor muscles, the reproductive system, and as well as urinary tract conditions. Some of the diseases a urogynecologist treats may include urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, bowel incontinence, pelvic floor dysfunction, and vaginal fistulas. Initially, a urogynecologist examines the patient, notes down the complaints, and advises certain investigations like ultrasound, CT, and MRI. Treatment depends upon the disease, which generally includes medications, pelvic floor exercises, and changes in lifestyle. In a few cases, depending upon the disease, surgeries like mesh hernioplasty might also be advised. Most commonly, a urogynecologist performs transvaginal surgery. They are well trained in such a way that they can even perform surgeries using a laparoscopic method or even an open surgery method.
