Hydrocele :
The scrotum is the small bag underneath the penis that holds the testicles. There is a sac attached to each testicle, and when this sac becomes filled with abdominal fluid, it is called a hydrocele. It causes scrotum to swell up. Hydrocele may occur in one or both testicles. It is more common in infants than adults. Hydrocele causes swelling in the scrotum that can feel like a water balloon. The swelling may increase and decrease throughout the day. Other symptoms include pain, discomfort and heaviness in the groin area. The condition can develop in older children and adults due to injury or infection in the scrotum. It is diagnosed using pelvic ultrasound or CT scan. In many cases, the condition resolves by itself. However, if it does not, then it can be treated with hydrocelectomy procedure. It cannot be treated using medications.
