Orthopaedician :
Orthopaedician refers to a specialized medical doctor who is proficient in diagnosing and managing the diseases or injuries of the musculoskeletal system including bones, joints, muscles, cartilage, ligaments, nerves and tendons. To certify as an orthopaedician, it is mandatory to obtain MBBS degree, followed by pursuing post graduation degree, MS or DNB in Orthopedics. An orthopaedician commonly treats conditions such as arthritis, mainly osteoarthritis, benign soft tissue tumors, bone cancer, bursitis, orthopedic trauma, such as bone fractures, congenital defects like clubfoot and hip dysplasia, sprains and strains, scoliosis, sports injuries and tendinitis. The symptoms for which one should consult an orthopaedician include joint pain, grinding, snapping or popping while moving the affected joint, inflammation and swelling, tingling and numbness, restricted movement due to stiffness and pain. A wide range of treatments are offered by an orthopaedician, including devices like braces, casts or splints, slings, joint injections like cortisone or other steroid medication, physical therapy, occupational therapy, non opioid medications and orthotics.
