Hand surgeon is known as a surgical specialist who will deal with management of conditions which are affecting the parts of the hand. A hand surgeon will be called as a plastic surgeon, a general surgeon, or an orthopedic surgeon. A hand surgeon is qualified with a graduation in MBBS, followed by post-graduation in orthopedics or plastic surgery. Further trained with a fellowship in hand and microsurgery. There are various conditions that are related to hand problems, like nerve injuries, arthritis, fractures of the hands, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, ganglion cysts, skin grafts, microsurgery for reattachment of amputated fingers, Dupuytren's contracture (thickening of the palm tissues), faciotomies, and reconstructive surgeries.
