Weight loss counselling is a process that supports individuals to achieve their desired weight by providing proper guidance, motivation, and education by a trained professional. The primary goal of weight loss counselling is to focus on healthy diet plans, lifestyle changes, and regular physical exercises. Any weight loss counselling begins with knowing an individual's goals, needs, and medical conditions and setting realistic targets to lose weight based on that. They create a healthy diet plan consisting of nutrient-rich foods such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean protein, meat, eggs, fish, etc. They will also be motivated to eat meals in portions and mindful eating of those meals. There are some foods to avoid, such as processed foods, beverages, and fast foods. They will advise to have regular physical exercise as exercise also plays a key role in the weight loss journey. In weight loss counselling, they will be counseled to self-monitoring and be accountable for what they are eating in a day.
