Voice surgery is an advanced surgery performed by a laryngologist to raise the pitch of the voice. Voice surgery is performed as an open procedure (by making large cuts) or as a minimally invasive procedure that uses a laryngoscope and works by changing the length, tightness and size of the vocal cords. Voice surgery helps in managing the disorders of sex orientation, disorders that require androgen therapy (male sex hormone) in the treatment line and ovarian cancers. Voice Surgery makes the voice sound higher or lower and also maintains the pitch of the voice more consistently. The complications that arise after a voice surgery include voice breaks or tremors, voice lowering over time, no change in pitch or too little change in the pitch, weak or strained voice, vocal cord lesions, vocal fold paralysis, rough or hoarse voice, abscesses in the airway and vocal cord dysfunction.
