Thyroid Problems :
Thyroid problems or disease refers to the condition caused by dysfunction of the thyroid gland, which leads to increased or decreased release of thyroid hormones, which affects the metabolism in the body. Underactive thyroid is referred to as Hypothyroidism, which is caused by Hashimoto's disease, iodine deficiency, and congenital Hypothyroidism. Hyperactivity of the thyroid gland is referred to as Hyperthyroidism, which is caused by Grave's disease, thyroid nodules, and excessive iodine. People with thyroid disorders experience symptoms based on the condition like faster or slower heart rate, feeling tired, insomnia, feeling sensitive to heat or cold, dey skin or sweaty skin, unexplained weight gain or weight loss, heavy or irregular menstrual periods. It can be diagnosed through physical examination by Endocrinologist, hormonal evaluation, blood tests, and ultrasound imaging. Early consultation of an Endocrinologist helps in early diagnosis and better management plans which include medical management and surgical management if needed.
