Rotator Cuff injury :
The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons in the shoulder that aid in lifting and moving the arms away from the body. Rotator cuff injury is an injury that causes pain and limits the movement of the shoulder. Rotator cuff injury can be caused by degenerative changes, repetitive traumas, traumatic injuries like falling on outstretched hand, shoulder dislocation and atraumatic injuries like age related muscle degradation and excessive repeated motions. People with rotator cuff injury experience difficulty and pain by raising, lowering, and rotating the hand, clicking or crackling sounds on arm movement, shoulder pain which worsens when resting the arm, and shoulder weakness. It can be diagnosed through x-ray, MRI, ultrasound, and physical examination by an Orthopedic. Treatment options include nonsurgical options like using arm sling and rest, medical management, physical therapy, steroid injections, and surgical methods like arthroscopic tendon repair, open tendon repair, or shoulder replacement.
