Leukemia :
Leukemia is defined as blood cancer characterized by the uncontrolled growth of a number of immature white blood cells in the bone marrow caused due to DNA changes. Leukemia is labeled as four main types. They are acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), and acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). The most common presenting complaints of leukemia are pale skin, shortness of breath, bone or joint pain, fever or night sweats, fatigue, prone frequent to infections, swollen lymph nodes in underarm, stomach, groin or neck, enlarged spleen or liver, easy bruising and bleeding like bleeding gums, nose bleeding and the presence of tiny red spots in skin. The advisable treatment options of leukemia include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, radiation therapy, bone marrow transplant and CAR T- cell therapy depending on the type of leukemia, age and the medical history of the patient.
