Kidney pain :
Kidneys are two fist-sized organs that are positioned under the ribcage on both sides of the spine. These organs filter out wastes from the blood. Kidney pain occurs under the ribs when there is a problem in the kidneys or in other parts of the urinary system. It can be mistaken for back pain. Many conditions can cause kidney pain. The formation of stones in the kidney can stop urine from passing and cause kidney pain. Backward flow of urine, retention of urine in the bladder, kidney infection, narrowing of the ureter and kidney cancer can also cause kidney pain. Kidney pain is often accompanied with vomiting and nausea. The cause of kidney pain can be found using tests like urinalysis and imaging tests like CT and ultrasound. The pain is treated by resolving the underlying cause.
