ITP :
ITP is known as idiopathic thrombocytic purpura, an autoimmune disorder. ITP is a condition where children's own immune system attacks the platelets in blood and destroys them. ITP leads to a reduced count of platelets, easy bruising, and a high risk of bleeding. The cause of this condition is unknown and more common in children. ITP is diagnosed through blood tests and complete blood count (CBC), which reveals a low platelet count in the blood. The symptoms of ITP are pin point sized red colored spots on the skin, the appearance of bruises, bleeding gums, nose bleeding, bruising of skin, blood in stools and urine, and fatigue. The treatment options for ITP are using steroid medications, intravenous immunoglobulin, and observation of the child. Generally, in many children, ITP subsides within 6 months. Care should be taken by parents regarding the child, and they should not involve in activities causing bleeding and bruising.
