Club foot :
The congenital deformity of the baby in which the baby's foot turn inward is called 'Clubfoot'. The bottom of the baby's foot faces sideways or downwards. It is a common congenital condition that is seen in 1 child out of every 1000 newborns. There are two types of isolated clubfoot, which is due to unknown causes, and nonisolated clubfoot, which is due to joint problems or neural tube disorder (spina bifida). The baby with club foot have the kidney shaped foot, smaller calf muscle in affected leg, shorted foot, ankle stiffness, and lack of full range of motion in foot. It can be caused bu genetical abnormalities or environmental conditions like pregnant mother using drugs and smoking during pregnancy. It can be diagnosed through ultrasound during the pregnancy to rule out any abnormalities and x-ray after childbirth. Club foot can be treated by Pediatric orthopedic, Orthopedic surgeon, Physical therapist. Their treatment plans include the Ponseti method of stretches and cast, and the French method of stretching and splint, Bracing, surgery if needed.
