chemoport treatment :

Chemoport accurately known as total implantable venous access device is a small medical appliance which is a thin, long, soft tube with a disc attached under the skin to deliver drugs. Chemoport is more often used to treat hematological and oncology patients. There are generally two types of chemoports which are surgically implanted, mostly as an out patient procedure namely single lumen port (one access point) and double lumen port (two access points). Some of the common side effects of Chemoport are thrombosis, increased risk of infection,mechanical problems,scarring,limited movement and other surgical complications. There are various advantages of a chemoport i.e it can significantly help reduce needle sticks or pricks to administer medications, fluids and blood draws in patients requiring frequent chemotherapy and phlebotomy.
